Goals ‘09, Gratitude, Award, and a meme too….

A while back, Sheng did a post about goals that she wants to accomplish, very appropriately as we are heading into 2009.  She put it out there well in advance and I thought it was awesome because it just shows how badly she wants these things on her list to happen.  It’s not going to happen for me if I don’t plan for it.  I’m not a planner by nature.  I’m a major “fly by the seat of my pants” procrastinator.  BIG TIME.  However, if I don’t plan for it I wont accomplish jack didly.  With my mind a buzz, filled with stupid shit, I am so glad she posted about it- because it gave me a chance to think about what I want to accomplish.  What things I need to change and improve.  Thanks Sheng. 

Also, Sheng sent me the neatest bookmark ever!  There is nothing in this world that compares to a handmade gift in my opinion.  When I saw the note she wrote (you have the NICEST handwriting) and the beautiful bookmark I was filled with happiness and thought about how lucky I am.  Every time I read, I will think of her and how sweet it was for her to make something just for me.  I love this and will keep it always.  It will also remind me of the person that Sheng is.  Sweet, honest, calm, extremely intelligent, sensitive, talented, FUNNY, entertaining, loving, and most of all, just a calming presence that is grateful for all that she has and reminds me to try harder, reminds me that there are really good people out there in this world.  QUESTION:  Have you ever known a person that made YOU a better person just by knowing them?   This blog has introduced me to people who constantly make me want to grow and evolve ~ and love more….

So, about an important goal for me for the New Year:  I want to be healthy.  No more sitting around.  I want to get out and get active.  I want to realize it’s not easyfor anyone, not even the ones who are trying and succeeding- sometimes I misinterpret their success as “it is easy” for them but a good friend of mine who has been eating healthy and losing weight (whom I miss dearly *a-hem* RED) recently told me how hard it wasand it hit me like a big old shoe in the head that CHANGING your lifestyle, attitude, adding exercise is not easy for anyone; even if they ARE DOING IT!  I am inspired so many of you kick ass people on my blogroll.  I have gained inspiration from your life and plan on using this to move ahead.

Also, Shady suggested telling someone who has influenced you in your life and to let them know.  I Haven’t done that in a long time either.  So, after writing Sweet Childhood Memories – and reading your comments I realized just how lucky I am to have such a sweet loving mother.  I went over to her house for coffee.  We were talking and I just told her, “Mom, there is something you should know…. I have so many wonderful childhood memories because of you…” and told her the details.  I also told her that not every mother is kind and loving.. and that she had a lot to be proud of.
